(but you would just love that)
Duncan glared into her eyes, pulling her green orbs closer, as if trying to get a better look, assessing her honesty. She was telling the truth. Although he was certain something was off. He slowly loosened his hand as his stare softened. She knew his brother's name. That was something. Reece wasn't one to give information away so easily. It wasn't that he was heroic or amazing under certain 'unsavoury' conditions; he typically squealed like a girl just when Duncan would thump him for something. But Reece's pride often got in the way of reason. There would be no way he'd give his name to a hostile; a name could easily trace back to a full identity...such as a family. She was a friendly. But that was all he knew so far and even that one fact was a little uncertain.
The hand which had been busy clutching at necks now drifted to his side as pain shot through the wound. It was bleeding over the padding. "What happened?" Duncan asked, a grimace on his features, not looking directly at her, knowing the answer himself but wanting to know how much Reece had told her.
The bottom of Reece's shoes was the last thing to escape the cramped window just as the door was kicked in. He collapsed hard on the ground with a grunt, limbs mangled, but knew he needed to run. Fast.
The officers, guns raised stared down into the bath tub with wide eyes, they'd never seen such a thing on the beat. One rushed to the window after a couple of moments, sticking his head out and seeing the back of Reece's Pea-coat vanishing around the corner. He spoke quickly and clearly into his radio, "Dispatch, we need a car on 9th Avenue."
Reece was hurtling down the back alley at sprinting speed, hearing sirens encircling him. He exploded out of the alley and into the sunlight bathing the main road. A klaxon roared on the right; a patrol car had spotted him, which stopped him abuptly in his tracks, turning and sprinting down the alley once more, turning sharply before coming face to face with a tall wire mesh fence. For a moment, he considered climbing it, before his eyes met the barbed wire at the top. Swinging his crotch over that wasn't something he had any interest in. Turning round, the two cops from the car had caught up with him, blocking off his only means of escape. They had yet to reach for their guns and he was still holding onto Riley's Magnum. Should he use it? He hunted humans just as much as creatures and spirits. Would a couple of cops REALLY bring down Reece Duffy?
